More than 500 women from Gyaneshwor and Maitidevi areas participated in the program which was mainly focused on education about the risk factors associated with Breast cancer and Cervical Cancer and their management. Among them, 283 went through the screening tests and 44 cases were found to be doubtful. In total, 4 cases of cervical cancer were diagnosed.
Dr. Rajendra Prasad Baral from Nepal Cancer Relief Society conducted the program in a seminar fashion and made it interactive with presentations and group discussions. The participants were taught techniques for self-assessment of breast cancer and educated on the Do’s and Don’ts of Pap smear test for cervical cancer screening. Following this program, cervical cancer screening camp is scheduled for 200 women on 19 November, Saturday.
